Some things.

So last night Trey and I watched The Golden Compass. Having read the book a while back and really enjoyed it I was interested in seeing how it would transfer to film. Unfortunately it was poorly done and didn't give nearly enough details to tell the actual story not to mention that several things were completely out of order. The book itself is very addicting and has a very intricate story line that is nicely strung together in an orderly and intelligent fashion, something that you would not expect if you were only to watch the film. I know that this happens with just about every book turned into film, so I really shouldn't be surprised, but I was still hoping for a little bit more. It's just one of those things where the people in charge of adapting the screen play should be smart enough to realize that their "story" is about to ruin the original story and that they should just cancel or re-do the entire thing. It's just frustrating...... This isn't even a favorite book of mine, but I did really enjoy it and I don't like that it was so poorly translated to film.

In other news.

Trey and I are supposed to go on a weekend over-night sail starting tomorrow. It should be pretty fun except there's no way I'm even going to put my feet in the water with that rabid great white shark still on the loose after last weekends fatal attack. I mean.... he's probably not rabid, but still.... I'm just hoping it's warm and that I can wear a swim suit and not a sweat suit. (not that I even wear sweat suits.... come on). But I do love my "yoga" pants. They've got to be the most comfortable type of pants to wear. srsly. But that's totally beside the point. All I'm saying is, it better be warm or I'm gonna row right back to shore and spend the weekend at Intelligentsia sipping Angeleno's and reading a good book!

Ok. I guess that's all. Life is being nice to us these days and I hope it's the same for everyone else.

Love,
Erin

PS - my sister Ashlee is really great!

A favorite old picture of a couple people I love and miss.

A couple of things about today.

1. I accidentally threw our dust buster out of the second story window today and of course it shattered into pieces on the sidewalk below. Surprisingly it still turns on and off, but unfortunately it can't suck anything up because it's broken.

2. The "$5 guy" just walked past our windows on the sidewalk below with a pink sparkle hat on singing Maniac....awesome...

3. Intelligentsia is yummy.

4. Trey dropped a brand new bar of soap in the toilet today. He couldn't get it out so he thought it was a good idea to flush it because, "it was dissolving so quick". I can't believe this. I guess it's no worse than me throwing the dust buster out the window.

5. We're painting our bathroom...............................AGAIN. I hate it.

We're trying to go back here again.

And I love Bryan Adams. I just do.

A good week

So I don't usually watch the Grammy's because music these days is usually to dissapointing to pay attention to (music that gets recognized at lease), but I watched this year hoping to catch a glimpse of some friends. Well, I never did catch sight of them, but I did catch Amy Winehouse at the end. I wasn't really too familiar with her music before seeing her perform on Sunday. I have only caught snip bits of her crazy life through random websites. I had heard the song Rehab before, but only so much as I remembered the beat when I saw her preform it. Since then, I have been loving that song. And even though she may be a bit of a "train wreck", I still don't think I would have liked it if anyone else had won the award for Record of the Year. Her acceptance was amazing. The shocked look on her face and her whole attitude seriously made me so happy it almost made me cry. And I can't stop watching it. And as for "for my Blake, my Blake incarcerated" that was one of the funniest things I've ever heard from an acceptance speech. I think overall she's fantastic. Except for the whole drug thing. Anyway. I'm gonna post the video of her acceptance just in case anyone else out there can't stop watching it.

Now.  I went and saw Rufus last night with my friend Mac. Trey unfortunately is out of town. But the show was fantastic. I enjoyed every second of it. There's just something about that gay man that I love so much. I'll also put two youtube videos on here that someone else took of the show. He loves to twirl that mic cord around. His hairy chest and HUMUNGO necklace made me laugh on more than one occansion last night. I couldn't decided between these two videos which one I like best. In this first one Susan definitely doesn't get the credit she deserves. I wish that she was on it more. She had some of the best dance moves I've ever seen. It was pretty out of control. If you notice when the video is right around 2:25 Rufus looks back at her and realizes how crazy this lady looks dancing behind him and makes kind of a funny face.  The second video is of the song he opened with. It was pretty special. The Wiltern is now on the list of venues that I really enjoy in LA. It's right up there with the Troubadour.

Trey comes back in town tomorrow. We have plans to see Wicked this weekend. I think it will be a good time.
Love, Erin
